From an early age Rachel showed an interest in all things creative. Everything from performing impromptu plays with her friends to making papier-mâché. water falls. She even created a poster campaign to persuade her parents to buy her a cuddly toy she had  been coveting. However it wasn't until after Rachel had graduated with a degree in history that she began to think that being creative could be a career. She returned to college to study graphic design and went on to a career in web design. While working as a web designer she began to dabble with jewellery making and took a course in silversmithing. The pure pleasure of creating a physical piece of jewellery won Rachel over. She began to incorporate her graphic design skills into her jewellery and eventually to begin selling it.

“My designs often start with an abstract doodle, a thought or a photograph. Inspiration is all around me. I constantly carry a sketchbook with me and I always have a stack of ideas lined up waiting to be brought to life” Rachel explains.

Rachel loves to work with modern/industrial materials and often combines industrial production methods with hand finishing. Recently she has been working with bamboo, metal and felt.
