Bio I have been an interior designer for 32 years. I even host a decorating show on the DIY network. Designing jewelry is my new love and passion. Just two years ago, my first necklace came to me in a dream. I started creating a line of avant-garde necklaces similar to those seen on the runways of Marni and Lanvin. I design with leather because 1. - I love "anything deconstructed" 2.- it's so lightweight that it doesn't hurt my neck and back and 3. -It's reclaimed and sustainable.
My eco-friendly leathers are from various sources. My interior design contacts happily save their scraps for me as does uber-chic shoe designer, Brian Atwood, my son's partner. My son, Nate Berkus' design firm also adds to my high end inventory.
Since designing my first piece, my line has grown to include handbags and chunky-one -of-a-kind bracelets. However, most of "GOLDENWEAR" pieces are necklaces in assorted shapes, sizes and lengths; finished with vintage metal, resin or wood links, and semi-precious gemstones. Because they are so light, I often wear them in multiples, Because they are 48" long, they look amazing wrapped twice.
